Computer aided design
Computer aided design or CAD was originated as an advanced
substitute for drafting. Even though the scope of computer
aided design is not just limited in drafting, it can be said
that, the roots of CAD are very well entrenched in
drafting.
At times, CAD is expanded as computer assisted design.
Another variant of CAD is CADD, i.e. “computer aided design and
drafting”. Even though the objectives of all the variants of
CAD find close proximity with each other, the slight difference
in applications brings slight difference in its meaning.
Computer aided design is extensively
employed in the design and development phases of a product. The
product could be a commodity of an end user.
Industrial requirements and applications find endless scope
in CAD since it can be deployed in the design and manufacture
of their tools, machines, products etc.
Apart from these, drafting and construction of buildings
ranging from apartments to factories make the optimal usage of
computer aided design.
Depending on the application and requirements, people in
various disciplines, go after different systems of CAD. All the
2D CAD systems have numerous programs that are open sourced.
Another system of 3D wire frame is an enhancement of 2D
drafting.
But, it greatly demands manual
interpretation, since every line has to be inserted manually.
Creation of real world entities are supported by 3D dumb
solids. According to the requirements and necessities, the user
can materialize a 2D or 3D object.
Alternations can be made, if necessary. Different other CAD
systems are available such as 3D parametric modeling, Vector
works etc to meet specific objectives.
Physical components used in industries, factories etc can be
diagrammatically represented using computer aided design. Two
dimensional or three dimensional views of physical components
can be represented using CAD. CAD finds great importance in
engineering discipline.
Mechanical and civil engineering departments find CAD as an
extremely helpful tool in the graphic construction of
machineries and devices. Apart from all these, numerous job
opportunities are opened for Computer aided design experts.
